Profile of the leader

Virginia Fuller is a RN with many years of experience who has worked in pediatric hospitals for about 11 years and experienced first hand that, "We could not discharge children who needed ongoing nursing care because families were not capable to provide that level of nursing care in the home". That is when she decided, with the support of her family to establish nursing homes in her neighborhood for chronically ill children.

It turned out to be a very trying experience. Who would have thought that in the arena of public health in particular when pediatric nursing beds are a rare commodity that a willing and capable nurse would be denied the freedom to serve in her own community?

Miss Fuller wrote about her experiences in an article called: " Who will care for these children?" published by Caring Magazine a quarterly magazine in June 1998.
